George R. R. Martin

George R. R. Martin is an American author, screenwriter and television producer, best known for the epic fantasy series A Song of Ice and Fire, which HBO adapted as Game of Thrones and later as the prequel House of the Dragon. He also wrote the Tales of Dunk and Egg novellas, helped create the Wild Cards shared-world anthologies, and contributed worldbuilding to the video game Elden Ring. His fantasy is built on political consequence rather than prophecy, which is why it reads as history.
