Crime Novelist
Patricia Cornwell is an American crime writer best known for her bestselling novels about the medical examiner Kay Scarpetta. The first was inspired by a series of murders in Richmond, Virginia, where most of the stories are set, and the series’ emphasis on forensic science influenced how television went on to portray police work. Her books have sold more than 120 million copies.
