A Kansas farm girl named Dorothy and her dog Toto are swept away by a cyclone to the magical Land of Oz, where she learns she cannot go home until she has destroyed the Wicked Witch of the West. With the Scarecrow, the Tin Woodman and the Cowardly Lion, she follows the Yellow Brick Road to the Emerald City. L. Frank Baum’s 1900 children’s novel, illustrated by W. W. Denslow, was the first of the Oz books.
