Charlie Munger

Vice Chairman of Berkshire Hathaway, 1978–2023 · Berkshire Hathaway

Charlie Munger (1924 to 2023) was an American investor, lawyer and philanthropist, and the vice chairman of Berkshire Hathaway from 1978 until his death. Warren Buffett called him his closest partner and credited him as the architect of modern Berkshire’s philosophy, the man who talked him out of buying fair businesses at wonderful prices and into buying wonderful businesses at fair prices. Munger preached a latticework of mental models drawn from many disciplines, and read biography, science and history relentlessly in pursuit of it.
