Wandering Memory

Jan J. Dominique’s novel moves by association rather than plot, circling a woman writer’s relationship with her father, her attempts to silence herself, and her exile in Canada. Published in French in 1984 as Memoire d’une amnesique and translated into English decades later, it is preoccupied throughout with what migration costs memory.
