Digory and Polly are sent between worlds by his uncle’s magic rings, wake a dying queen in the ruins of Charn, and are present when Aslan sings Narnia into existence. Lewis published it sixth but wrote it as the origin story, explaining the lamp-post, the wardrobe and the White Witch. Read in publication order it is a revelation; read first, it gives away rather a lot.
