The Hours
One day in three women's lives, braided together by Mrs Dalloway and the question of what makes a life bearable.
Three women, one day each: Virginia Woolf beginning Mrs Dalloway in Richmond, a Los Angeles housewife in 1949 reading it, and a New York editor in the 1990s giving a party for a dying friend. Cunningham braids the three so that a gesture in one lands in another, and asks what makes an ordinary life bearable.
