The Final Days
Woodward and Bernstein's account of Richard Nixon's last months in office, as Watergate and the White House tapes closed in.
Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein followed All the President’s Men with this 1976 account of the last months of Richard Nixon’s presidency. The book follows the battles over the White House tapes and the impeachment process as the Watergate scandal closed in on the president and the people around him.

All the President's Men is Woodward and Bernstein's best-known book, but The Final Days is, for my money, more revelatory. It's particularly good on the way Nixon's circle justified what they had done, and what they were protecting.
