Lisa Cupolo’s debut collection, which won the W.S. Porter Prize, gathers stories set in Africa, Greece, Canada and the United States, most of them turning on a woman at the point where a decision has already been made and cannot be unmade. The subject throughout is love in its unglamorous forms, filial and marital and between friends.
