Manil Suri
Novelist and Professor of Mathematics
Manil Suri is a professor of mathematics at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, and a novelist, which he has never treated as a contradiction. The Death of Vishnu, set in a Mumbai apartment building around a dying odd-job man, was longlisted for the Booker Prize and began a trilogy that continued with The Age of Shiva and The City of Devi. He has also written The Big Bang of Numbers, an argument for building the universe out of mathematics.
