You Can Negotiate Anything
The terms you live with are usually the ones you never thought to question. A classic on treating that as fixable.
Herb Cohen’s 1980 classic argues that almost everything in life is negotiable, and that most people lose simply by never trying. The book breaks negotiation into power, time and information, and treats it as an ordinary social skill rather than a confrontation. Its examples are dated; its central claim, that the terms you accept are usually the terms you failed to question, has not aged at all.

Everything is negotiable. Challenge authority. You have the power in any situation. This is how to realize it and use it. A must-read classic from 1980 from a master negotiator.
