Olive, Again

Elizabeth Strout returns to Olive Kitteridge, the blunt retired schoolteacher of her earlier novel, in a set of linked stories set in coastal Maine. Older now, Olive contends with new love, illness, estrangement, and the small mercies of a small town. As before, Strout builds a portrait of a whole community around one difficult, wholly human woman, finding depth in ordinary lives.
