Elizabeth Strout

Elizabeth Strout is an American novelist who won the Pulitzer Prize for Olive Kitteridge, a portrait of a blunt, difficult retired schoolteacher assembled from thirteen linked stories. She has returned repeatedly to the same fictional Maine and to characters such as Lucy Barton across several books. Strout grew up in Maine and New Hampshire, and her writing is unusually attentive to what people cannot quite bring themselves to say to each other.
