A Moveable Feast
Hemingway remembers being young, poor and writing in 1920s Paris, among Stein, Pound, Joyce and the Fitzgeralds.
Ernest Hemingway’s memoir of his years as a struggling young journalist and writer in 1920s Paris was published in 1964, after his death. It recalls his first marriage, to Hadley Richardson, and his encounters with the writers and artists of the Lost Generation, among them Gertrude Stein, Ezra Pound, James Joyce and F. Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald. Many of the bars, cafes and hotels it mentions are still there.
