Einstein’s Dreams

Alan Lightman imagines the dreams of a young patent clerk in Berne in 1905, each one a world where time behaves differently: flowing backwards, moving in circles, standing still at the centre of the city. The fables are brief and the physics is exact, and together they turn relativity from a set of equations into a series of ordinary lives lived under different rules.
