Ta-Nehisi Coates is an American author and journalist who built a wide readership as national correspondent at The Atlantic, where his essay The Case for Reparations reset a national argument. Between the World and Me, written as a letter to his teenage son about living in a Black body in America, won the National Book Award. The Water Dancer is his first novel, and he has also written for Marvel’s Black Panther.
