Reading List
Noah Smith
Economics Writer
Noah Smith writes Noahpinion, a newsletter on economics that he has published full time since leaving Bloomberg Opinion in late 2021. He studied physics as an undergraduate, took an economics PhD at the University of Michigan, and taught finance at Stony Brook University before turning to writing. His book reviews are long, argumentative essays that treat a book as a claim to be tested rather than a product to be praised, which is what makes a recommendation from him worth following.
