Khaled Hroub is a Palestinian academic who founded the Cambridge Arab Media Project and now teaches Middle Eastern studies at Northwestern University in Qatar. His work on Hamas is unusual for being neither advocacy nor denunciation: he reads the movement’s own charters, speeches and internal debates and reports what they say.
Hamas: A Beginner’s Guide is the result, and it is widely used precisely because it treats an organisation most writing approaches emotionally as a subject to be described accurately.
