Portrait of Jonathan Haidt

Jonathan Haidt

Social Psychologist

Jonathan Haidt is an American social psychologist and the Thomas Cooley Professor of Ethical Leadership at NYU’s Stern School of Business, working mainly on the psychology of morality and moral emotions. His argument across several books is that moral judgment is intuitive first and reasoned afterwards, which is why people who disagree politically so rarely persuade each other. More recently he has turned that lens on smartphones and adolescent mental health.
