Jimmy Chin

Jimmy Chin is an American photographer, professional climber, and filmmaker who documents the extremes of the mountain world, often while participating in the expeditions himself. He has shot for National Geographic on Everest and remote first ascents, and co-directed the Oscar-winning documentary Free Solo about Alex Honnold’s ropeless climb of El Capitan. His book There and Back collects two decades of his photography from the planet’s most dangerous and beautiful places, paired with the stories behind the images.
