Gabriel García Márquez

Gabriel García Márquez was a Colombian novelist and journalist, known across Latin America as Gabo, and the writer most associated with magical realism. One Hundred Years of Solitude traces seven generations of the Buendía family in the invented town of Macondo, and Love in the Time of Cholera follows a man who waits fifty-one years for the woman he loves. He left law school for journalism, which shaped the flat, matter-of-fact way he reports impossible events. He won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1982 and died in 2014.
