Zone
Mathias Énard's novel told largely in a single sentence across more than five hundred pages, translated by Charlotte Mandell for Open Letter in 2010.
Zone was published in French in 2008 and consists primarily of a single long sentence across five hundred pages, apart from three chapters that are excerpts from a book the narrator is reading. It won the Prix Décembre, the Prix Candide and the Prix du Livre Inter. Énard describes it as a novel about the violence around the Mediterranean in the 20th century, full of civil wars, war criminals and spies. Charlotte Mandell translated it.
