Wings: A Story of a Band on the Run
Farm rehearsals, a university tour in a van, and Lagos, assembled from interviews with everyone involved in the band McCartney built after the Beatles ended.
An oral history of the band McCartney formed after the Beatles, assembled from interviews with everyone involved, taking in the farm rehearsals, the university tour in a van, Lagos, and the records that followed. Presented as testimony rather than authored memoir, and readable as a study of how somebody reinvents himself in public after an impossible first act.

Not really written by McCartney, but excerpts from interviews with parties involved with Wings, Paul included. Presented as if it were an oral history, which in part it is. Very well done, not for everyone obviously but it is for me. Macca and music aside, it is a good study of how to reinvent oneself, and how weird you need to be to actually succeed with that.
