Watership Down
Richard Adams's debut novel, an adventure about a band of rabbits in southern England.
In Hampshire, a small group of rabbits escapes the destruction of its warren and looks for a new home on the hill of Watership Down. They live in the wild but have their own culture, proverbs, poetry and mythology. Several publishers rejected the manuscript before Collings accepted it, and the book won the Carnegie Medal and the Guardian Prize. Wohlleben names it his favorite book now, and he visited the Hampshire hills in 2010.

Watership Down by Richard Adams. It's a novel that warms my heart. It depicts a hero's journey (with a happy ending!).
