The Vortex (La vorágine) is a 1924 novel by the Colombian author José Eustasio Rivera, set during the rubber boom. It follows Arturo Cova and his lover Alicia from Bogotá across the eastern plains and into the Amazon rainforest, and it exposes the appalling conditions of rubber workers. Pilar Quintana calls it a dark adventure novel with an anti-hero at its centre. Charco Press published this edition in 2024.
