The Omnivore’s Dilemma

Michael Pollan

Four meals, traced from farm to plate, reveal how Americans really eat and what it costs.

Michael Pollan follows four meals back to their sources: a fast-food lunch made from industrial corn, an industrial organic dinner, a meal from a small pasture-based farm, and one he hunts and forages himself. Along the way he explains how modern food is produced and what it costs the land, the animals and our health.

Just look at what’s on your plate and ask how it got there. That’s what Michael Pollan asks in The Omnivore’s Dilemma. The great thing about him is that he presents himself as just an ordinary guy asking what he should eat. He’s engaging, funny, clever and practical too.
