The Night Manager

Jonathan Pine, night manager of a Cairo hotel, is recruited by British intelligence to work his way inside the circle of Richard Roper, an arms dealer described as the worst man in the world, having his own reasons to want it. Le Carre wrote it after the Cold War took his usual subject away, and the enemy here is commercial rather than ideological.
