The Light in Hidden Places

Based on the true story of Stefania Podgorska, a Polish teenager who hid thirteen Jews in the attic of a small flat while German soldiers were billeted downstairs, and did it with her small sister in the house. Cameron writes it as a young adult novel and keeps the tension domestic: the daily arithmetic of food, noise and neighbours. Remarkable because it happened, and told without inflating what was already extraordinary.
