The Last Days of Hitler
Written in 1947 from the author's own intelligence investigation into how Hitler died and what the bunker was like.
In 1945 Trevor-Roper, then a British intelligence officer, was ordered to establish whether Hitler was dead. He interrogated survivors of the bunker and produced this, published in 1947, part investigation and part portrait of a court eating itself. Later archival work has largely confirmed the conclusions he reached in a few months.

For example, the kind of institutional Darwinism between the different organisations and movements. Armies of boring German scholars have spent decades in the archives producing 2,000-page tomes to show that Trevor-Roper was right in this insight he got in a few months.
