The Hidden Life of Trees

Peter Wohlleben · 2016

Peter Wohlleben's bestselling case that trees live in social networks, in the 2016 English edition.

Drawing on his work in forest management, Wohlleben describes how trees grow and live together, including the Wood-Wide Web through which they exchange nutrients and signals. He argues that forests should be left as undisturbed as possible and opposes monoculture plantations and heavy machinery. The book was a bestseller, though some biologists and foresters criticised its anthropomorphic language. Greystone published the translation, with a foreword by Tim Flannery.
