De Kerangal’s Réparer les vivants appeared in a UK translation by Jessica Moore as Mend the Living, which won the Wellcome Book Prize in 2017. Sam Taylor’s translation, titled The Heart, was published in the US in 2016. The story turns on organ donation, and the 2016 film Heal the Living, adapted from it, interweaves three stories connected by a transplant. Blondel wishes he could come to it all over again as a new reader.
