The Greenhouse
Auður Ava Ólafsdóttir's novel of a young man, a rare rose and sudden fatherhood, in Brian FitzGibbon's translation.
Lobbi is about to leave for a new job when his mother dies and he unexpectedly becomes a father. While he tends a rare eight-petaled rose, he learns to adjust to his new life and to cultivate love. The book appeared in Iceland in 2009 as Afleggjarinn, and AmazonCrossing published the English edition in 2011. Ragnar Jónasson says he is always recommending it.

I'm always recommending that people read The Greenhouse by Icelandic author Audur Ava Ólafsdóttir. One of my all-time favorite books.
