The Forgery is the English edition of Restauración, a novel by Ave Barrera published in Mexico and Spain in 2019. Ellen Jones and Robin Myers translated it for Charco Press in 2022. Barrera says Luis Barragán, the architect who won the Pritzker Prize, is one of its characters, and that Juan Rulfo’s prose echoes through the corners of the house at its centre. One critic suggested the novel pays homage to Rulfo.
