The Bitch
Pilar Quintana's novel La perra, translated by Lisa Dillman and shortlisted for the 2020 National Book Award for Translated Literature.
The Bitch is the English edition of La perra, which won the Premio de Biblioteca de Narrativa Colombiana in 2018 and has been translated into 16 languages. Lisa Dillman’s translation was shortlisted for the 2020 National Book Award for Translated Literature and published by World Editions at 128 pages. Quintana says a French review called it magical realism, but she sees her writing as realistic, since people in the Colombian countryside do visit indigenous doctors.
