Everyone over the age of thirteen is going to die, and the children have eight months to prepare.
A supernova irradiates the Earth, and the adults learn they have less than a year to hand the planet to children too young to be affected. Cixin Liu is interested in what a civilisation run entirely by twelve-year-olds actually does. The premise is superb and the execution uneven, which is roughly the standard complaint about it.
