A husband, his exhaustingly charming second wife, his first wife, and a club of origami obsessives.
Graham Cavanaugh is on his second marriage, to Audra, who talks to everyone, invites strangers to stay, and befriends the origami club their son belongs to. Then his first wife reappears. Heiny writes comic domestic fiction that keeps sliding into something sadder without ever announcing it, particularly around the couple’s son and his autism, which the novel handles with neither pity nor uplift. It is very funny, and the funniness is doing serious work.
