Crossing Borders with Youth Refugees from Central America
Young Central Americans tell, in their own words, how and why they made the journey north alone.
Fifteen young Central Americans describe, in their own words, why they left home and what the journey north cost them: gang violence, family separation, the desert, detention. Part of the Voice of Witness oral-history series, it hands the narration to the people usually spoken about rather than heard. It was an Our Shared Shelf pick for July 2019, in a cycle themed on refugees.
