Rumours of a Hurricane

Tim Lott’s novel follows a working-class couple in London through the Thatcher years of the 1980s, as a husband tries to better himself in a changing economy and their marriage comes under strain. Lott uses one family to show what the decade did to ordinary lives. It was shortlisted for the Whitbread Novel Award.
