Pippi Longstocking

Astrid Lindgren · 2005

Astrid Lindgren's children's classic about a red-haired, immensely strong girl who lives alone with a horse and a monkey, in the Puffin edition.

Astrid Lindgren’s first Pippi book won a children’s book competition at Rabén and Sjögren and was published in November 1945. Pippi lives alone in Villa Villekulla with her horse and her monkey, Mr. Nilsson, and the neighbours’ children Tommy and Annika join her adventures. Nino Haratischwili names it as her childhood favourite and the first book she read by herself, and says she loved that Pippi was a girl who was fearless and brave.
