One Step Behind
Henning Mankell's seventh Kurt Wallander novel, in the Vintage paperback, about a triple murder on Midsummer's Eve.
Henning Mankell published this Inspector Wallander novel in Swedish in 1997, and it was a finalist for the 2002 Los Angeles Times Book Prize for Mystery/Thriller. Three young friends dressed as nobles from the reign of Gustavus III are shot dead in the woods, and soon after one of Wallander’s colleagues is murdered. Anders Roslund says Mankell took the Swedish tradition from Martin Beck and turned it into Wallander.
