Northern Spy

A BBC producer in Belfast watches footage of an IRA robbery and recognises her sister among the masked figures. Berry sets the novel in a Northern Ireland where the Troubles never quite ended, and builds the tension out of ordinary domestic detail: a baby, a childminder, a job. The subject is less espionage than what you do when the person you would protect above all others turns out to be on the other side.
