No Fear

Tim Gill

An argument that shielding children from every risk leaves them less able to cope, and what to do instead.

Tim Gill, a writer on childhood and play, argues that Britain has become too anxious about children’s safety. Adults now restrict play, independence and everyday risk in ways that harm children’s development and resilience. Published by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, this short book calls for a more balanced approach that lets children learn by testing themselves.
