Good Girl

Aria Aber’s first novel. Nila is nineteen, the daughter of Afghan refugees, living in Berlin in the years after the 2015 refugee crisis and spending her nights in the techno clubs while telling people she is Greek. She falls in with an older American writer, and the book follows the affair alongside her grief for her mother and her attempts to make a self out of borrowed pieces. Aber is a poet, and the prose carries it.
