Two children run away to live in the Metropolitan Museum and stumble onto a genuine mystery.
Claudia Kincaid, feeling unappreciated, decides to run away somewhere comfortable and takes her younger brother because he has money. They live in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, bathing in the fountain, and become fixated on a small marble angel the museum bought cheaply and cannot attribute. Konigsburg won the Newbery Medal in 1968, and the book’s real subject is a child working out what would actually make her feel different.
