Eloquent Rage

Brittney Cooper takes the caricature of the angry Black woman and argues that the anger is both earned and useful: a form of clarity about injustice rather than a failure of composure. She writes about friendship, church, Beyoncé, respectability politics and her own upbringing, and she is very funny throughout. It was an Our Shared Shelf pick for November 2018, in a cycle themed on women’s anger.
