Marvel Moreno's long novel about women in 1950s and 1960s Barranquilla, published by Europa Editions in English in 2022.
December Breeze (En diciembre llegaban las brisas) is a novel by Marvel Moreno, a Colombian writer born in Barranquilla in 1939 who died in Paris in 1995. Pilar Quintana says it follows several women in a conservative Caribbean port society in the 1950s and 60s, and that it speaks openly about women’s desire and about abuse. She compares its scale to Tolstoy. Europa Editions published the English edition in 2022.
