Concerning My Daughter
Kim Hye-jin's short novel about a mother who must confront her adult daughter's life and relationship, translated by Jamie Chang.
Concerning My Daughter is narrated by a mother in her own voice. Her adult daughter and the daughter’s same-sex partner begin living with her for financial reasons. The mother is reluctantly confronted with a private life she would rather ignore, while the daughter struggles with societal opposition. Kim Ho-Yeon calls it a powerful work that depicts generational conflict and the absurdities of Korean society. Jamie Chang translated it from Korean.
