Dylan’s memoir ignores almost everything that made him famous. There is no Newport, no motorcycle, no sixties tours. He dwells instead on arriving in New York in 1961, on the making of two lesser records, and on what he was reading and listening to. It was a National Book Critics Circle finalist.
