Yunus lent twenty-seven dollars of his own money to forty-two villagers in Bangladesh and found that they repaid it, which the banks had insisted they would not. This is his account of building the Grameen Bank from that experiment, of the resistance it met, and of the case for treating credit as a human right. He shared the Nobel Peace Prize in 2006.
