Ash Wednesday
An AWOL soldier and his pregnant girlfriend drive across America toward marriage and parenthood, in Ethan Hawke's second novel.
Jimmy is AWOL from the army, and Christy is pregnant with his child and determined to go home and face her past, with or without him. Barreling across America from Albany to New Orleans, Ohio and Texas in a souped-up Chevy Nova, the two are transformed from passionate but conflicted lovers into a young family. It was Ethan Hawke’s second novel.
